Stop 9, Seneca Falls
The town of Seneca Falls is famous for a convention of women's rights activists at a chapel in 1848. The NPS has a Historical Park there that tells the story of the convention and it's participants.
Today the town seems to be a bit on hard times. Many store fronts were boarded up on main street. The town claims to have inspired Frank Capra in the making of It's a Wonderful Life. There is a trellis bridge that looks very much like one in the movie. To substantiate the claim, apparently a resident died while saving the life of another person who had fallen or jumped into the river The town claims to operate a museum dedicated to the movie, but it was closed and in the process of being moved, so we cannot comment on the museum.
We did walk across the bridge, which was adorned with bells.
